Dating back to the time of King Henry VIII, this beautiful 500 year old manor house boasts ancient timber beams, large Inglenook fireplaces and real wood-burning stoves. The guest rooms are in the oldest part of Clay Hall House, which was built around 1520. All rooms share a luxury bathroom with power shower and traditional roll-top bath, with a separate toilet and washbasin. Guests can relax in the cosy sitting room with wood burning stove. Meals can be served in the light and airy conservatory The freshly prepared breakfasts are made with locally sourced ingredients and are cooked using a traditional Aga stove. The kitchen has been awarded a maximum hygiene rating of 5 by the Food Standards Agency. Clay Hall House is nestled in the beautiful Stour Valley, inspiration behind the works of the famous artists Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable. There are many cycling, walking and car touring routes in the local area. The historic Suffolk villages Lavenham and Long Melford, and the pretty riverside town of Sudbury are within 3 miles. Subury Train Station is an 11-minute drive away and Stansted Airport is 40 minutes’ drive away and Cambridge can be reached in 1 hour.
